PHNOM PENH, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's Ministry of Information on Wednesday released the result of a 2025 press survey showing that unethical behavior and conduct among journalists had decreased.
A total of 467 journalists across the country were interviewed in the survey. Sixty-eight percent of the journalists noted a decrease in cases of extortion and unethical behavior, showed the survey.
It added that more than 71 percent of the respondents rated the general ethical conduct of journalists as good.
Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra said the ministry would continue fostering a favorable environment for work and mission fulfillment, and cooperation with all media operators, partners and relevant stakeholders to enhance journalistic professionalism, media effectiveness and sustainability.
"The Royal Government of Cambodia -- through the Ministry of Information -- remains committed to promoting the press freedom and cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure safe digital information spaces that protect public interest, peace, and citizens' well-being," he said in a press conference on the launch of the survey result.
"These efforts are vital to ensure information quality, effective media systems, competitiveness, adherence to ethics, while combating fake news," he added. ■
