JAKARTA, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's counterterrorism squad, Densus 88, has arrested two civil servants on suspicion of involvement in terrorism activities in the country's westernmost province of Aceh, a provincial police spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Aceh Police spokesman Joko Krisdiyanto told state news agency Antara that the arrests were made in two separate operations in Banda Aceh, the provincial capital, on Tuesday.
In the first operation, officers apprehended a 40-year-old, identified by the initials MZ, at a coffee shop in Banda Aceh. In the second, a 47-year-old, identified as ZA, was arrested at a used car dealership in the downtown area.
MZ is reportedly employed as staff at the provincial religious affairs agency, while ZA works at the tourism office.
Krisdiyanto said the anti-terror squad is continuing its investigation, having searched several locations where the suspects are believed to have hidden items related to the case. ■
