Angolan FM calls for free movement in Portuguese-speaking countries

          LUANDA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Angolan Foreign Minister Manuel Augusto Monday said more efforts were needed to promote the free movement of people and goods within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

          Free mobility must become a pillar of the international organization of Lusophone nations across four continents, Augusto told the press on the sidelines of the two-day CPLP Summit in the Cabo Verde island of Sal.

          The summit is expected to strengthen cultural ties and people-to-people exchanges and discuss the issue of free mobility within the organization.

          Established in July 1996, the CPLP operates as a multilateral platform for closer cooperation and friendship among its nine members -- Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, and Timor-Leste.
