KIGALI, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda is set to vaccinate front-line health workers against the Ebola virus disease from April 15, Rwandan health minister Diane Gashumba said Friday.

The move, in partnership with the World Health Organization, aims to prevent them against the disease in case of the outbreak and in a situation they have to deal with Ebola-infected patients, Gashumba said at a press briefing in the Rwandan capital Kigali.

The plan is part of the country's pre-cautionary measures amid a worsening outbreak of the disease in neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), she said.

Health workers and front-line responders in 15 high-risk districts bordering the DRC will receive the vaccination, she said.

Rwanda currently has no suspected or confirmed case of Ebola, according to the ministry.

Since the outbreak of Ebola in DRC, Rwanda has put in place strict prevention measures against the disease.

The epidemic had claimed 621 lives in DRC, UN said on March 25.
